Cannabis Controversy

In the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation’s (NSLC) newly renovated stores, customers are encouraged to “discover your experience” with cannabis while surrounded by signs promoting cannabis as a way to “relax,” “unwind,” “enhance” and “centre.” Unfortunately, the NSLC’s signs appear more appropriate to a spa day or to a yoga retreat than to a drug with established links to many serious problems.

Dr. Simon Sherry explains cannabis is not a health product or a benign substance, which leaves the NSLC’s signs at odds with evidence linking cannabis to psychosis, depression, suicide, anxiety, cognitive problems and addiction.
