Optimists cope in positive, adaptive ways. They also have a healthy sense of control over their lives and have greater resiliency. Optimists are more likely to engage in health-promoting behaviours such as exercise and less likely to engage in health-compromising behaviours such as drinking. Not surprisingly, new research suggests optimists are likely to live longer (Lee et al., 2019). Dr. Sherry discussed this new research with CTV’s Natasha Pace.
