Aparna Sekhar, Registered Psychologist

 

Ms. Aparna Sekhar brings two decades of experience as a psychologist, having worked across diverse settings including mental health, corrections/forensics and education. Her career has taken her to multiple countries, enriching her ability to connect with individuals from all walks of life. Ms. Sekhar has supported clients of all ages, with a particular focus on adults, helping them navigate challenges, build resilience, and grow. Her work is grounded in a deep commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those she serves.

 

Ms. Sekhar’s therapeutic approach is rooted in evidence-based practices and guided by empathy, curiosity, and respect for each person’s unique story. She creates a warm, collaborative space where clients feel safe to explore their experiences and emotions. Whether working one-on-one or as part of a multidisciplinary team, she tailors her interventions to meet each client’s needs, fostering insight, healing, and lasting change. Ms. Sekhar is also deeply attuned to cultural context and strives to provide care that is inclusive and responsive.

 

Ms. Sekhar treats individuals facing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and self-esteem issues. She is expert in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based treatment for trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and related problems. She also has extensive experience working with adults and is honored to walk alongside her clients as they courageously pursue greater self-understanding and emotional well-being.

 

She also offers comprehensive assessments to support individuals navigating emotional and cognitive challenges. With a trauma-informed lens, she helps clients understand the impact of experiences such as abuse, sexual assault, and operational stress injuries—including among first responders, military personnel, and veterans. Her assessments explore concerns related to anxiety, depression, and attention difficulties, and are designed to provide meaningful insight and tailored treatment recommendations that empower clients in their healing and growth.

 

At CRUX, Ms. Sekhar provides individual therapy and assessment services online through easy-to-use technologies like Zoom. She works with adults (19 years of age or older). Ms. Sekhar is a licensed psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Psychologists who are fully registered in other Canadian jurisdictions (such as Ontario) can provide online services to residents of other provinces.
