Dr. Abigail Draper takes a warm, compassionate and down-to-earth stance to support clients to overcome life challenges and overwhelming thoughts and feelings.
Dr. Draper completed her graduate studies at McGill University in Montreal with an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. At CRUX, Dr. Draper offers online treatment services through easy-to-use technologies like Zoom.
She has over 20 years of experience treating mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, as well as anxiety disorders. She uses therapies that address and treat panic disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, social anxiety, phobias, trauma, psychotic disorders and borderline personality disorder. Dr. Draper offers thoughtful interventions and support to best help clients whose symptoms interfere with their lives and leave them feeling stuck and alone.
Dr. Draper treats adults (19 years of age or older) for individual therapy. Her theoretical framework includes evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based therapies (MBCT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). She works with people from diverse backgrounds and offers a non-judgmental, client-centered approach. Dr. Draper has extensive experience offering advanced psychological services to clients in primary care, outpatient hospital and public health settings.
Dr. Draper is a licensed psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Psychologists who are fully registered in other Canadian jurisdictions (such as Alberta) can provide online services to residents of other provinces. Dr. Draper works with clients from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Alberta.
