Dr. Ana Jemcov

Registered Psychologist

Ana Jemcov, Ph.D., Registered Psychologist

Dr. Ana Jemcov completed her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Dalhousie University. Her research focused on the development of a mobile health application called the ABCs of SLEEPING. Her interest in sleep-related issues for children and adolescents informs her clinical work.

At CRUX, Dr. Jemcov works with children (4 to 11 years of age), adolescents (12 to 18 years of age) and their parents. She helps her clients navigate complex emotional and behavioural challenges and foster greater self-compassion, resilience and well-being.

Dr. Jemcov’s approach is compassionate, gentle and inquisitive. She creates a warm, supportive and non-judgmental space for clients, aiming to help them feel comfortable and heard in therapy. She wants to truly understand her clients as individuals. Her clinical training is rooted in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). When beneficial to her clients, she integrates strategies from dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

For therapy, Dr. Jemcov treats a wide range of challenges, including those related to anxiety, autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), mood difficulties and social challenges. She specialises in working with ADHD, autism, executive dysfunction, and behavioural and emotional regulation.

For assessments, she conducts assessments that are psychodiagnostic in nature and designed to provide a clearer understanding of a child’s strengths, needs, skills, and day-to-day functioning. For some families, assessment may help inform practical supports, increase knowledge of appropriate and available resources, and identify helpful adaptations across settings, such as at school, at home, or in the community. For others it may also bring validation, relief, and/or a deeper understanding of their child’s experiences. Dr. Jemcov conducts autism assessments for children and youth aged 4 to 18, as well as psychoeducational and/or ADHD assessments for school-aged children in Grade 2 and higher. Dr. Jemcov values a collaborative approach and works with families to better understand their goals, questions, and support needs.

Not sure what type of assessment may be helpful, or whether assessment is the right next step? Families are welcome to book a 50-minute consultation to discuss their concerns and explore whether an assessment may be a good fit. For example, some families may notice learning or developmental concerns before Grade 2 and wish to inquire about guidance regarding possible options and next steps.
