Ana Jemcov, Ph.D., Psychologist, Candidate Register
Dr. Ana Jemcov completed her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Dalhousie University. Her research focused on the development of a mobile health application called the ABCs of SLEEPING. Her interest in sleep-related issues for children and adolescents informs her clinical work.
At CRUX, Dr. Jemcov works with children (4 to 11 years of age), adolescents (12 to 18 years of age) and their parents. She helps her clients navigate complex emotional and behavioural challenges and foster greater self-compassion, resilience and well-being.
Dr. Jemcov’s approach is compassionate, gentle and inquisitive. She creates a warm, supportive and non-judgmental space for clients, aiming to help them feel comfortable and heard in therapy. She wants to truly understand her clients as individuals. Her clinical training is rooted in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). When beneficial to her clients, she integrates strategies from dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
For therapy, Dr. Jemcov treats a wide range of challenges, including those related to anxiety, autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), mood difficulties and social challenges. She specialises in working with ADHD, autism, executive dysfunction, and behavioural and emotional regulation.
For assessments, Dr. Jemcov conducts autism, ADHD, psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic assessments for children and adolescents. Psychoeducational assessments identify a learner’s strengths, needs and emotional, behavioural and social challenges. Psychoeducational assessments also diagnose disorders that affect learning, such as learning disabilities or ADHD. For parents, she offers practical strategies to support children in managing internalising and externalising behaviors.
Dr. Jemcov is a psychologist candidate register with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology.
