Brenton Crowhurst, Ph.D., Registered Psychologist

Dr. Brenton Crowhurst fostered his love for Atlantic Canada when he traded coasts to pursue his Master’s of Science at Halifax’s St. Mary’s University. He then completed his education with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Calgary and has missed Nova Scotia’s fish and chips ever since. Starting his practice in 1996, he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to CRUX.

Dr. Crowhurst understands that even the strongest people need support. He bases his practice in patience and empathy, believing that a successful therapeutic relationship is founded on mutual trust and respect. With this foundation, he works with clients to explore sources of their pain and develop strategies to help them live with purpose and joy.

He helps clients find courage and resolve to overcome depression, anxiety, health anxiety, panic, low self-esteem, body image issues and eating disorders. Dr. Crowhurst knows moving beyond grief and loss, loneliness, fears and phobias, abuse and neglect, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may mean addressing the past in order to step into a brighter future. When life and work gets too much, Dr. Crowhurst helps clients reduce stress and burnout and find satisfaction.

Dr. Crowhurst understands the major impact relationships have on clients’ lives. Whether family, friends, coworkers, enemies or lovers, he will delve into family, attachment or relationship problems and give clients tools and confidence to make positive changes. Dr. Crowhurst also treats borderline personality disorder.
