Carey Stevens, Ph.D., Registered Psychologist

Dr. Carey Stevens has over 45 years of experience in behavioural psychotherapy, couples therapy, and family mediation. He holds a Master’s in Psychology from the New School for Social Research and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa. In addition to his clinical education, he also has a unique background spanning business and law. When he is not at the office, Dr. Stevens enjoys running and fitness. He has completed several marathons and triathlons and was once a Certified Fitness Instructor.

Dr. Stevens believes individuals are integrated, that changes to one aspect of life impacts all other aspects of life. His holistic, hands-on style provides his clients with deeper and more insightful personal transformations. Using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Dr. Stevens helps his clients improve their relationships, wellbeing and quality of life.

He has advanced certification in family mediation and arbitration. Dr. Stevens understands that relationships with family, friends, romantic partners and coworkers greatly influence his clients’ lives. Whether they are dealing with divorce, ageing parents, parental alienation or coworker conflict, he offers a listening ear and evidence-based solutions.

Dr. Stevens also specialises in working with clients suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). When his clients feel trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, stress and burnout are taking over their lives, he shows them healthier ways to cope and create meaningful changes.

At CRUX, Dr. Stevens provides individual therapy, couples therapy and family therapy services online through easy-to-use technologies like Zoom. Dr. Stevens works with adults (19 years of age or older). Dr. Stevens is a licensed psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. Psychologists who are fully registered in other Canadian jurisdictions (such as Ontario) can provide online services to residents of other provinces.
