Carolyn Abramowitz, Ph.D., Registered Psychologist

 

Dr. Carolyn Abramowitz is a kind, caring and experienced clinical, forensic and neuropsychologist. Since earning her Ph.D. in clinical psychology, she has worked in hospital and government settings, including at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Ontario Correctional Institution, Ministry of Labour, Physician Health Program, Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and University of Waterloo Campus Wellness Program. She volunteers with Aftermath: Surviving Psychopathy, an organization that assists those negatively affected by relationships with individuals with psychopathic traits.

 

Dr. Abramowitz also has extensive experience in private practice, including working with legal teams and police and correctional services. She offers skilled forensic assessments, including for perpetrators of abuse, assault and sexual assault. Dr. Abramowitz has experience testifying in criminal court. She is qualified as an expert in clinical, forensic, and neuropsychology by the Ontario courts.

 

She provides diagnostic assessments for anxiety, addictions, mood disorders (such as depression and bipolar disorder), executive dysfunction, obsessive compulsive disorder, personality disorders, psychosis (schizophrenia), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and disability. These assessments can be done for independent medical examinations, pre-employment screening or insurance purposes. 

 

Dr. Abramowitz also provides neuropsychological assessments for Alzheimer’s disease, concussion, cognitive abilities (such as memory, language and spatial abilities), dementia, functional neurological disorder, psychogenic seizure disorders and traumatic brain injury.

 

At CRUX, Dr. Abramowitz offers individual assessment services online through easy-to-use technologies like Zoom. Dr. Abramowitz works with adults (19 years of age or older). Dr. Abramowitz is a licensed psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. Psychologists who are fully registered in other Canadian jurisdictions (such as Ontario) can provide online services to residents of other provinces.
