Douglas Cohen, Ph.D., Registered Psychologist
Dr. Doug Cohen is a neuropsychologist and psychotherapist with more than 25 years of experience. After earning his B.A. (honours) in psychology at Concordia University, he went on to obtain his M. Psych. in clinical psychology from the University of Ottawa. He also earned his M.A. in psychology and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Simon Fraser University. In addition to his clinical work, he is a published researcher in human development, empathy and cognitive assessment and has also co-authored a recent book chapter and several articles in the academic journal Psychological Injury and Law on the forensic assessment of financial and legal competency. He is currently in private practice in Vancouver. He also acts as a psychology advisor for Worksafe BC, consulting to the covid and mental health teams.
Dr. Cohen knows that injury is stressful.Through assessment, he helps his clients explore how their pain has affected their ability to perform in various aspects of their lives and work. Dr. Cohen demystifies the confusing, frustrating and frightening process of recovery by helping his clients understand how injuries, such as traumatic brain injury, alter thought processes, memory, comprehension, focus, emotional regulation and much more. His comprehensive assessments help his clients return to their lives. Dr. Cohen also provides consultation to the families of brain-injured clients.
Dr. Cohen also specializes in educational assessments. These tests measure his clients strengths and weaknesses in all aspects of their academic performance to determine if they are performing at, above or below their grade level. Whether his client is gifted or has a learning disorder, an intellectual disability or executive functioning challenges, his assessments provide the information his clients need to succeed. Dr. Cohen also offers assessments for ADHD, anxiety, depression, developmental delays, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), epilepsy, personality and premature birth.
Dr. Cohen has extensive experience providing assessments for insurance companies, law firms and individuals. He also provides psychoeducational and pre-employment assessments.

Dr. Cohen is a licensed psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists British Columbia.
