Ingrid Friesen, Ph.D., Registered Psychologist
Dr. Ingrid Friesen obtained her doctorate in Neuropsychology, Clinical Psychology, and Life-Span Development at the University of Victoria in British Columbia. In the more than two decades since, she has practiced clinical psychology and neuropsychology, specializing in neuropsychological and psychological assessments. She has also provided expert witness testimony in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, with her practice equally divided between plaintiff and defense. Beyond her fascination with the brain, Dr. Friesen is a florist and spends much of her time in the garden nurturing flowers.
Dr. Friesen specializes in both neuropsychological assessments for medical-legal purposes and early diagnosis of dementia and other memory loss disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia. She provides her clients with personalized remediation recommendations based on their specific weaknesses, whether they be with memory, thinking, decision making, communication, attention, or other cognitive abilities. Dr. Friesen understands how frightening cognitive loss can be and approaches her assessments with kindness and care.
In addition to memory loss disorders, Dr. Friesen assesses neurological disorders that impact movement (such as epilepsy, functional neurological disorder, multiple sclerosis, and parkinson’s) and cognition (such as developmental delays, learning disorders, learning disabilities, executive functioning challenges and post-concussion syndrome). She also assesses neuropsychological functioning after strokes, traumatic brain injury, or other traumatic events. Dr. Friesen gently guides her clients through assessment and focuses on informing practical strategies to better their daily lives.
Dr. Friesen provides assessments for insurance companies, law firms, physicians, veterans, and individuals.
