Dr. Jennifer Klages

Registered Psychologist

Jennifer Klages, Ph.D., Registered Psychologist

Dr. Jennifer Klages traded coast for coast when she left her home province of “Beautiful British Columbia” for “Canada’s ocean playground”—Nova Scotia. After completing her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Dalhousie University, she returned out West, but never forgot the East Coast’s charm. She spent 16 years in the public health system working with clients in need of high-level, specialised care. She offered invaluable services in neuropsychological assessments to various programs including psychosocial rehabilitation and Tertiary Mental Health adult psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, and neuropsychiatry. Now, she works in private practice.

Dr. Klages is dedicated to improving the lives of those she serves. Her approach centers on compassion, using her extensive knowledge and experience to make a positive impact on her clients’ wellbeing. Her 16 years working with the Interior Health Authority in the public healthcare system demonstrate her dedication to vulnerable populations, particularly the elderly and those with brain injury or chronic psychological conditions.

Dr. Klages specialises in assessing and diagnosing neurodegenerative disorders, such as dementia and Alzheimer’s; neurodevelopmental disorders, such as intellectual disabilities, genetic disorders, and developmental delays; and other neurological disorders, such as epilepsy. Her knowledge of the intricate relationships between major mental health disorders and cognition (how we think, plan, focus, learn, and remember) makes her exceptionally skilled at evaluating attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and executive functioning challenges. She also has a wealth of experience in neurorehabilitation, and uses that background to inform her assessments of traumatic brain injury and strokes.

Through assessments, Dr. Klages brings clarity to her clients, so they can find comfort in both understanding their strengths, weaknesses, and symptoms and identifying the mental health conditions impacting their thoughts, feelings, and actions. Her assessments also help her clients gauge their progress through treatment and determine any adjustments needed to better meet their needs. Dr. Klages works to empower her clients by giving them knowledge about themselves so they can grow and flourish.

At CRUX, Dr. Klages provides assessment to adults (19 years of age or older), including for insurance purposes. Dr. Klages is a licensed psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia. Psychologists who are fully registered in other Canadian jurisdictions (such as B.C.) can provide online services to residents of other provinces. Dr. Klages works with clients from Nova Scotia and British Columbia . For a copy of Dr. Klages’ CV, click here.
