Meadow Schroeder, Ph.D., Registered Psychologist

Dr. Meadow Schroeder loves learning. She spent over a decade pursuing higher education, achieving both her Master of Science in School Psychology and her Ph.D. in School and Child Applied Psychology. A lifelong student, she continues to learn through her research on student wellbeing, issues surrounding learning disability identification, and the transition to post-secondary education for students with disabilities. Now, she teaches others as an Associate Professor at the University of Calgary. She also applies her research through assessment in her clinical practice.

Dr. Schroeder has dedicated her life to studying and assessing problems related to learning and attention. She believes that knowing yourself gives you the power to adapt, and so she aims to give her clients the information they need about themselves to be successful. With over 10 years of experience, she uses her expertise to help her clients learn and work well.

Dr. Schroeder specializes in psychoeducational and diagnostic assessments. She follows the biopsychosocial model, which acknowledges the roles that biological, psychological, and socio-environmental factors play in development and learning. As such, she applies a variety of assessment tools to understand her clients and their world. She understands that attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and learning disorders can cause difficulties learning, focusing, and transitioning. She is an expert in diagnosing girls with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), knowing that symptoms often present differently in boys and girls and recognizing the behaviours in girls that others often overlook that can indicate attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She is also passionate about supporting her young adult clients as they transition and enter post-secondary education. She helps her clients identify their needs as students and suggests strategies that can help them with self-regulated learning, including coping, motivation, self-efficacy, and metacognition strategies.

Dr. Schroeder knows that anxiety and executive functioning challenges can be paralyzing, and keep her clients back from becoming the best student they can be. With a gentle but factual approach, she assesses her clients thoroughly to best understand their symptoms and arrive at the right diagnosis. Whether her clients have developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, or giftedness, she guides her clients as they navigate their diagnosis and discover the accommodations or strategies they may need.
