Mohamed Bekkari, Ph.D., Registered Psychologist

 

Dr. Mohamed Bekkari earned his Masters in Clinical Child Psychology from the University of Ottawa and his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Alberta. He has been a practicing psychologist for more than 30 years.

 

Dr. Bekkari bases his practice in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy. He helps his clients identify unhelpful thoughts, whether conscious or unconscious, and determine how those thoughts influence their behaviour. He knows that self-awareness is critical to meaningful change. 

 

Offering therapy services in English and French, Dr. Bekkari treats those experiencing negative psychological effects following stress, accidents or trauma. Such effects include depression, anxiety and anger. He also has extensive experience treating children, adolescents and parents dealing with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), behaviour problems, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), parenting issues and problems arising from separation, divorce or parental alienation. Dr. Bekkari also provides therapy for social anxiety, stress, burnout, work problems and personality disorders.

 

At CRUX, Dr. Bekkari provides individual therapy services online through easy-to-use technologies like Zoom. He works with children (8 to 11 years of age), adolescents (12 to 18 years of age) and adults (19 years of age or older). Dr. Bekkari is a licensed psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. Psychologists who are fully registered in other Canadian jurisdictions (such as Ontario) can provide online services to residents of other provinces.
