Dr. Monik Kalia

Registered Psychologist

Monik Kalia, Ph.D., Registered Psychologist

Dr. Monik Kalia is a dedicated and thoughtful clinical and forensic psychologist. He has been recognized by the courts as an expert witness. He provides therapy and comprehensive psychological assessment for adults and couples, supporting clients with a wide range of emotional, behavioural and relational concerns.

His clinical work includes anxiety, depression, social anxiety, trauma, post‑traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), personality disorders, anger and addictions, as well as issues involving body image, self‑criticism, self‑esteem, loneliness, perfectionism, procrastination and personal growth. He also works with relationship difficulties, separation and divorce, parental alienation, family conflict, parenting support, parental capacity and challenges faced by high achievers. His practice further includes concerns related to domestic violence, sexual dysfunction and work‑related stress.

Dr. Kalia provides psychological assessments for concerns such as anxiety, addictions, depression, personality disorders, sexual assault and assault. His assessment work is grounded in careful, evidence‑based evaluation to clarify diagnoses, understand underlying patterns and guide effective intervention. His forensic work includes comprehensive risk assessments for individuals involved in the criminal justice system, with a focus on personality functioning, mental health concerns and offence‑related behaviour.

He has expertise in compulsive sexual behaviours, including problematic pornography use and paraphilic interests, as well as issues related to domestic violence, alcohol and substance misuse and broader relationship difficulties. He supports individuals and couples navigating infidelity and works with spouses and family members affected by a loved one’s involvement in the criminal justice system, recognizing the emotional, relational and practical strain that legal processes can create.

His work is grounded in the view that psychological and behavioural difficulties often emerge from long‑standing, unexamined patterns—ways of thinking, unmet emotional needs, internal conflicts or attempts to manage fear, shame, anger or loneliness that no longer serve the person well. He helps clients build clarity, take responsibility and engage in the consistent effort required for meaningful and lasting change.
