Laura Romero, M.C., Registered Psychologist
Ms. Laura Romero is a registered psychologist with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. After spending time living in Singapore, she trained in Eastern health and wellness practices. These experiences continue to shape her East–West, holistic approach to therapy.
Ms. Romero understands people as complex, interconnected systems. Rather than focusing on a single symptom, she helps clients explore how lifestyle, sleep, relationships, beliefs and values influence their overall well‑being. Her work supports adults navigating attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), trauma and major life transitions such as relationship changes, career shifts and relocation.
Ms. Romero has a particular interest in women’s mental health, including the emotional, cognitive and relational changes associated with perimenopause. She supports clients in navigating hormonal transitions, identity shifts, mood changes, sleep disruption and the broader life adjustments that often accompany this stage. Her integrative, mind–body approach helps women understand their symptoms, build resilience and develop strategies that support well‑being during this important period of life.
Trauma treatment is a core area of specialization in Ms. Romero’s practice. She has extensive experience supporting clients recovering from acute and chronic trauma, including those feeling stuck, overwhelmed or unable to manage intense emotions. Her approach helps clients identify and shift long‑standing patterns, develop new perspectives and reconnect with a sense of agency, meaning and possibility.
Ms. Romero is trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), a therapeutic model that helps clients understand and work compassionately with different parts of themselves. She also draws from somatic experiencing, EMDR, existential therapy and solution‑focused approaches, integrating these modalities to support both emotional processing and practical change.
In addition, Ms. Romero has significant experience supporting individuals in the aftermath of motor vehicle accidents. She is trained in assessing and diagnosing psychological injuries, developing treatment plans, preparing clinical reports and communicating effectively with insurance providers throughout the recovery process.
With a direct, grounded style and a commitment to equipping clients with practical tools they can use independently, she strives to create a safe space for learning, growth and exploration.
At CRUX, Ms. Romero provides individual therapy services online through easy-to-use technologies like Zoom. She works with adults (19 years of age or older). Ms. Romero is a licensed psychologist registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Psychologists who are fully registered in other Canadian jurisdictions (such as Alberta) can provide online services to residents of some other provinces. Ms. Romero works with clients from Alberta, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
