Simon Sherry, Ph.D., Registered Psychologist
Recognized for his expertise in both clinical practice and scientific research, Dr. Simon Sherry combines compassion with science to create effective, long-lasting changes that help his clients live more fulfilling lives. Dr. Sherry is a tenured Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Dalhousie University, where he directs research on the role of personality in relationship problems, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and alcohol problems. He is a well-cited author with more than 160 scientific articles to his credit and an internationally recognized expert in perfectionism.
Wanting to directly help more people, in 2018, Dr. Sherry and his wife founded CRUX Psychology, a team of 16 doctoral-level psychologists. At CRUX, Dr. Sherry treats and assesses a wide variety of problems in both individuals and couples. He specializes in treating perfectionism, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, alcohol problems and personality disorders. Dr. Sherry also offers assessment services, including forensic / legal and psychological assessments.
Dr. Sherry is a strong advocate for the science and practice of psychology. He regularly contributes to local, national and international media outlets, including CBC News, Reader’s Digest, Today’s Parent, CTV News and The Globe and Mail. Dr. Sherry also leads educational workshops for health professionals across Canada.
As a committed hockey dad and coach, Dr. Sherry may often be found freezing somewhere in a rink in Halifax.
Dr. Sherry is a licensed psychologist registered with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology.
