Dr. Stephen Stotland

Registered Psychologist

Stephen Stotland, Ph.D., Registered Psychologist

Dr. Stephen Stotland is a clinical psychologist with more than 30 years of experience helping people create meaningful, lasting change. He brings a thoughtful, integrative approach to therapy, grounded in the belief that people grow when they have the space to think, feel and understand themselves more deeply.

Dr. Stotland completed his master’s degree in psychology at the University of Toronto and his doctorate in clinical psychology at McGill University. Alongside his clinical work, he has served as a researcher and lecturer at McGill University and the Université de Montréal. His career has spanned broad interests in emotional and physical health, with particular expertise in eating behaviour, weight management, adjustment to illness, pain, depression, anxiety and stress.

Clients often seek Dr. Stotland’s support when they feel stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed or uncertain about their next step. He works with people who want more than short‑term solutions—those ready to explore the emotional roots of long‑standing patterns and move toward a more coherent, intentional way of living. His style is collaborative and reflective, blending science, strategy and meaningful exploration.

In therapy, Dr. Stotland focuses on understanding each person’s experiences within the context of their biology, psychology, relationships and life history. He helps clients make practical shifts that improve how they feel and function in the present, while also guiding them toward deeper insight into the patterns and protective strategies that shape their lives. His work is ultimately about helping people reconnect with meaning, rewrite their personal narratives and grow into fuller versions of themselves.

Dr. Stotland believes that while life is short, there is always hope—and meaningful change begins when you take a stand for yourself. He feels privileged to accompany clients on their journeys toward clarity, healing and renewal.
