Karissa Horne, Psychology Clinician
Ms. Karissa Horne is a third year Ph.D. student in Clinical and Counselling Psychology at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Dalhousie University, her Bachelor of Education at Memorial University of Newfoundland and her Master of Education in Counselling Psychology at the University of Lethbridge.
Ms. Horne’s research interests focus on the psychosocial development of young adults, particularly in the context of post-secondary education and career development. Informed by relevant psychological and career theories, her research examines the challenges these individuals encounter during this critical period. Ms. Horne has authored more than 10 peer-reviewed publications in this area.
At CRUX, Ms. Horne provides individual therapy in areas including depression, anxiety (including perinatal anxiety), trauma, insomnia, and career development issues. Her treatment approach is guided by evidence-based practices, including cognitive-behavioural therapy.
Ms. Horne is also dedicated to providing assessment services including mental health and comprehensive psychological assessments.
At CRUX, Ms. Horne provides individual therapy and assessment services to adults (19 years of age or older) both in-person and online through easy-to-use technologies like Zoom.
